In the recent medical lecture of Dr. Roger Seheult in the YouTube channel MedCram, he has addressed the issues on the possibility of coronavirus reinfection based on a pre-print (non-peer-reviewed) study.

The researchers, accordingly, used rhesus macaques to explore the potential for COVID-19 reoccurrence and their findings suggest that contracting SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, could actually protect against repeat infection.

The lecture explained that one of the two re-exposed monkeys was euthanized to analyze the viral replication and histological changes. But it was found that there were no viral replication, pathological damage and viral antigen in the sacrificed monkey.

“Taken together, our results indicated that the primary SARS-CoV-2 infection could protect from subsequent exposures, which have […] vital implications for vaccine design [and disease prognosis],” the scientists explained in the journal.

Dr. Seheult later concluded that it would be unusual to have multiple infections of the same virus.

He added that if “50-60% in the community tested positive for virus, it’s difficult for virus to spread much more.”

In the video (, he also explored how viral antibodies and immunity works and how this could help in protecting medical professionals and health care workers even without the use of personal protective equipment.

There are specific antibodies that play key roles in the fight against the new coronavirus. A scientific article was also cited which claims that new blood tests for antibodies could show true scale of coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Seheult expressed his hopes that antibodies testing be approved soon to know how many were really infected and how fast it could still spread.

More factual and helpful updates about the coronavirus can be watched in this YouTube channel which now has a total of 42 videos, as of March 24.

As the coronavirus pandemic rapidly spreads worldwide, fake news and misleading claims about this deadly virus are also fast circulating online.

So if you’re one of the millions of individuals who use your smartphone or laptop to find credible information about the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), it is best that you stay tuned on the YouTube channel MedCram through this link

On their channel, it is stated that: “We’ve produced each COVID-19 video with the best information we could access at the time of recording. Naturally, some videos will contain information that has become outdated or replaced by better information or research. That said, we believe each video contains concepts that have enduring value and reviewing how the response to COVID-19 has progressed over time may be of interest to you as well.”
