Taipei-based Acer Inc. and Asustek Computer Inc. once again made it to the list of the world’s top 10 computer manufacturers in terms of shipments.
The results were released by Gartner, a global market information advisory firm, which noted that the Taiwanese PC makers maintained high rankings despite a slight decline in their shares in 2019.
With a total delivery of 14.76 million computer units last year, Acer remained the fifth largest PC vendor in the whole world.
It was closely followed by Asustek who sustained its 6th place with 14.48 million PCs sold.
However, these figures represented a weakening for the two companies, Acer’s global market share dropped to 5.7% from 6.1% while Asustek’ share fell to 5.5% from 5.9% in 2019.
The declines did not seem to affect the sum of global shipments because according to Gartner, PC deliveries at the international level grew 0.6% last year compared to the data in 2018.
“We expect this (worldwide) growth to continue through this year even after Windows 7 support comes to an end this month, as many businesses in emerging regions such as China, Eurasia and the emerging Asia/Pacific have not yet upgraded,” Gartner senior principal analyst Mikako Kitagawa said.
Chinese multinational manufacturer Lenovo Group Ltd. claimed the first place after it successfully sold 62.97 million units.
While three American companies acquired the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranks. These were HP Inc. with shipments of 57.92 million; Dell Inc. with 43.96 million delivered PCs and Apple Inc. with 18.35 million units traded.
