The Shark Beauty Shark Glam 5-in-1 Ceramic & Powerful Air Styling & Drying System + Diffuser lists at $449. During Sephora’s fall sale, a Rouge member pays $359. That one price tag shows how the event works: your discount depends on how much you spent at Sephora over the past year, and the biggest spenders get in first.
Who gets what, and when
The sale started Friday, October 30, and closes Monday, November 9. Joining the Beauty Insider loyalty program costs nothing and carries no minimum spend, but your tier sets both the percentage and the start date.
Rouge is the top rung. Spend $1,000 or more in a year and you get 20% off from day one, plus first crack at items before they sell out. Rouge members can also bring up to five friends along for the same early 20%. VIB members, who have spent at least $350, get 15%. Everyone else, the free Insiders, gets 10%. Those two groups wait until November 3.
There is one exception. Sephora Collection, the store’s own label, is 30% off for every tier from the first morning, and the code ALLONSALE applies at checkout.
Prices worth a look
The figures below reflect the Rouge rate of 20% off, so VIB and Insider shoppers will pay a little more once they are in.
Skincare first. The YSL Beauty Skin Affair Soft Glow Cushion Foundation falls from $49 to $39. Tatcha’s The Dewy Skin Cream goes from $74 to $59. The Rhode Mauve Pocket Pair drops from $38 to $30, and the Voluspa Tahitian Coconut Vanilla Glass Jar Candle matches it, $38 to $30.
An NBC Selected beauty reporter named Glossier’s You fragrance line a personal favorite, saying they are up to four scents and that each one lingers on the skin. According to the brand, the formulas react with your body’s pheromones, so the scent differs from person to person. Other picks on that list include a K18 hair mask, a Dr. Dennis Gross light-therapy face mask with red, blue and combined settings, and a Kerastase hair oil that protects hair from heat up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
The fine print
Discounts generally do not stack with other offers. Some brands carry purchase limits per transaction: two Dyson products, three from Shark Beauty and three from The Ordinary. Returns are accepted within 30 days for a full refund to the original form of payment, though you usually need proof of purchase.
Seth Rogen and the holiday push
Sephora timed the sale alongside a holiday campaign. On October 26 the retailer unveiled “We All Sephora,” starring Seth Rogen as an unlikely beauty shopper hunting for gifts with help from a Sephora Beauty Advisor. Jason Woliner directed it, working with the agency GUT New York.
“Holiday gifting can be stressful, so anything that makes it easier is a win in my book,” Rogen said. Zena Arnold, Sephora U.S.’s chief marketing officer, called him “the perfect partner” because he brings warmth, curiosity and humor to the brand.
To tease it, Sephora covered its store at The Grove in Los Angeles with a facade that swapped the Sephora name for “Sethphora.” The spots began running October 29 across connected TV, linear television, streaming and social, and the products Rogen picks in them can be bought on Sephora.com and the Sephora App.
Insiders and VIBs get in on November 3. The sale ends November 9.
