Meta has quietly put a new AI fashion app in front of users in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. It is called Style Sketch, it runs on Android and iOS, and for now it goes no further. A few weeks earlier the company had released Waddle World, a Tamagotchi-like journaling game, in the Philippines only.
A closet built from your own photos
The story begins with what people have already shared. Style Sketch can connect to a user’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and assemble a virtual wardrobe from pictures posted there. Anyone uneasy about linking profiles can upload from a camera roll or photograph the clothes hanging at home. Either way, the things you own become the inventory.
What the AI does with it
From there the app starts suggesting. Pick one item, say a jacket or a pair of trousers, and it builds outfits around it. Tell it the weather, or give it a trip, and it puts together outfit plans. The try-on feature shows the combinations on a virtual model matched to the user’s body type and skin tone.
Why Meta wants a lot of small apps
At its heart, this looks like part of a plan. TechCrunch noted that Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this year that Meta would release many more apps, because AI has made them far easier to build. The apps also bring more people into Meta’s AI systems and help train them.
Not the first in the closet
Others got there earlier. Google’s AI Search has offered virtual clothes try-on since 2025, and this year Google added a “Wardrobe” feature to Photos that catalogs a person’s items by scanning their library. OpenAI has more recently added a ChatGPT feature that lets users upload photos of themselves and the garments they want to try on.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted Style Sketch and wrote about it on X.
